Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging
The Waldorf School of Baltimore actively encourages and supports diversity and inclusion in our community. We strive to strengthen diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through our pedagogical and administrative policies and practices. We welcome people of (but not limited to) all races, gender identities, sexual orientations, socioeconomic statuses, abilities, ages, and religions.
Our community works to embrace and deepen our own understanding of both our strengths, which support our goal for the inclusion of all, as well as the challenges hindering our progress toward this goal. We actively stand against hatred, prejudice and discrimination.
As an accredited member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA), Waldorf School of Baltimore stands behind the following AWSNA statement on racial comments in the works of the education's founder, Rudolf Steiner.
Waldorf Education espouses principles of respect for human dignity. Any narratives or indications made by Rudolf Steiner that are in contradiction to these principles are not the basis for Waldorf Education and we unequivocally denounce such statements.
A healthy social life is found only, when in the mirror of each soul the whole community finds its reflection, and when in the whole community the virtue of each one is living.
– Rudolf Steiner

We understand it is important to recognize when we feel connection and belonging. It is equally important to identify difficulties and barriers to full participation in our WSB community. Paying attention to the full range of experiences at school gives us the opportunity to improve mutual understanding, equitable access, and inclusivity.
