After graduating from The Waldorf School of Baltimore in 2000, Mikko went on to high school at the Baltimore School of the Arts with a focus on music (oboe). He completed his BA at UMBC in Music Recording Arts. From 2016 to 2021 he taught music to high risk youth at the Woodbourne School. He joined the WSB faculty in 2021, taking the 7th grade and will lead them  thsi year through their final year and graduation.  In addition to teaching, he worked in home improvement as a carpenter/finisher and as a mill-worker. In his free time, Mikko enjoys outdoor activities, sports and playing guitar.
