Pat was born and educated in the United Kingdom. She read sociology as an undergraduate at the University of Leicester. She studied at the University of Warwick where she was awarded her Masters and CQSW (Certificate of Social Worker Qualification), majoring in community work development. Her Diploma in Management Studies was awarded by the DeMontfort University for studies undertaken during the years she worked for the Leicester City Council as the Head of the Strategy Unit. When asked about her most memorable work experience, she replied “taking 12 adolescents to Amsterdam on a two week camping trip in my early years of being a Social Worker!” Apart from having two boys who graduated from the Waldorf School of Baltimore the most life changing event was breaking her neck in a climbing accident, followed closely by moving to Baltimore in 2001.
