Self Portrait Project — Ellie

Self Portrait Project — Ellie: Large Self Portrait

My first thought for my eighth grade project was soccer. I always knew sports would some way be incorporated in my eighth grade project. Even since I was a kindergartener walking through the halls viewing past eighth grade projects. As the time was nearing to have a concrete idea for what my project would be I chose to make a series of workout videos then changed my idea to make a book with a workout plan and guide. Then I realized I wanted to create something that represented more sides of me - something that showcased "me". Another reason being that I tend to do a lot for others and forget to take care of myself, so this project is a reminder I can do things soley for me and still be there for others at the same time. Which led to my third and final project idea. I decided to make a 3D soccer ball that has panels that represent my interests, passions, hobbies, loved ones and more.

The visual component is a representation for my love of soccer. If you know me, you probably know I am a soccer fitness fanatic so the shape is very fitting. Sports helped me and help me through life. Each hexagon is unique with its own design, that fit together to create a whole like me. There are lots of things about me, that come together and are what make me, me. My favorite panel would have to be the one with the names of my loved ones on it. I enjoyed this project because it reminds me to take time for me and because it also reminds me of the good things in life when the bad seems too out of the way. Then I have this project to look at.
