Sharon Polchies holds a Bachelor’s of Psychology from Towson University, Magna Cum Laude. She has Waldorf Class Teacher Certification from the NOVA Institute in Bethesda, MD, Foundations Studies Certification from the Center for Anthroposophy in Keene, NH, Orton-Gillingham Certification from IMSE in MI, and Brain and Sensory Integration Certification from Move, Play, Thrive. During her first career, Sharon worked as an IT professional, 3 years with the federal government and 13 years with NASA on the Hubble Space Telescope Project, at both Space Telescope Science Institute and Johns Hopkins University. Sharon began her second career after having children. She worked in the local community to establish and lead various community groups in areas of attachment parenting, natural living, and Waldorf homeschooling, with an emphasis in diversity, equity, and inclusion. She established the first Maryland Earth Scouts/Champs, empowering children and families in the areas of human rights, economic justice, peace, and the environment. Sharon has over 16 years of experience teaching within the Waldorf community. She came to WSB in 2012 and her three children graduated from our school. She and her husband have homes in both Baltimore and on the Penobscot Indian Island Reservation in Maine.
