Phase II: to better serve our students
The Waldorf School of Baltimore is celebrating almost 50 years in the Baltimore community.
Waldorf is expanding! Thanks to our dedicated community and generous donors, the Waldorf School of Baltimore realized a 17-year-old dream of having our own, dedicated space to house the signature activities that are the hallmark of our students’ education. After the successful Capital Campaign Phase I, Tamarind Hall, a 3,300 square foot performance and sports space, opened in Spring 2017. A core need for the school, it helps us fulfill our mission: to educate and inspire children to think, act and feel with depth imagination and purpose.
In June 2019 , we broke ground on the spaces adjacent to Tamarind Hall. Capital Campaign Phase II also reached its goal thanks to our very generous donors. These two new, now finished, classrooms provide space for student services, like tutoring, counseling, or therapeutic Eurythmy. The flexible classroom can house various activities like a Main Lesson for the grades, or host PA and Board meetings. It is also suitable for Parent Child program and therefore could help us grow our Children's Garden to 5 classes. These projects to enhance our campus and better serve our students would not have been realized without the huge-heartedness shown by our supporters. We are enormously grateful to the Hughes Foundation; the France-Merrick Foundation; the Campbell Foundation; the Middendorf Foundation; Scott Helm and Lesley Malin; Emlyn and Pierce Flanigan; Laura and David Freitag; Rosemarie and Evans Paull; and the many other donors, many of them Trustees, Faculty, and parents current or former who gave. Phase III is to build an outdoor Kindergarten with other outdoor bases for classes to take lessons in the fresh air. We are so excited to bring this to reality! As of August 2020, plans are being finalized and initial work is being done on the sites. We have secured funding of $50,000 and are looking to match it with donations from our community and other foundations.
Feeling inspired? Then please donate to our Capital campaign, to raise the additional $100K needed to furnish this area with office equipment, storage, and much more.
We are excited about this expansion and what it means for the future of the Waldorf School of Baltimore, and look forward to having you join us in this endeavor!
