Celebrating 50 Years of Waldorf Education in Baltimore

Celebrating 50 Years of Waldorf Education in Baltimore

Our school began as the New Morning School, opening its doors to 15 preschool children in 1971. Originally housed in property rented from the City of Baltimore, this little school set off on a big journey.

A look back at the history of the Waldorf School of Baltimore (so named in 1978) reveals 50 years of progress and achievement. Strong grounding principles, responsible innovations, community support and social responsibility have led the School to grow and to flourish.

For five decades, WSB has been joyfully meeting children at each stage of their development in an ever-changing world while providing a renaissance in education where hands-on, experiential academics are delivered in a nurturing environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, emotional resiliency, and a strong sense of self. Whew!

Today WSB is thriving, and its mission to educate and inspire children to think, act and feel with depth, imagination, and purpose has produced many inspirational and empowered young people.

As a celebration of this milestone birthday, in collaboration with Ms. Edna Emmet (WSB Art Teacher, Board Member and Alum Parent) we have put together a stunning commemorative poster featuring her original artwork and our guiding mission statement. Cheers to 50 years!
